FAQ

How does scoring work?

You earn up to 1,000 points per question based on how close your pin is to the actual location. A perfect score (within 20 km) awards the full 1,000. The further away, the fewer points — the formula drops off exponentially.

How often does the Daily Challenge change?

Every day at midnight. You get one attempt per day with 5 randomly selected locations from our worldwide pool.

What are Theme Packs?

Curated collections of locations around a topic — like Famous Castles, Volcanoes, or California Landmarks. Each pack has 6–10 locations and you play through all of them in one session. The first 12 theme packs are free, and the rest are available to logged-in users.

Can I replay a Theme Pack?

Yes! Once you finish a theme, you can reset it and play again. The locations are shuffled each time so the order is different.

Is this legal?

Yes! All location data and images come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, which are freely licensed under Creative Commons. We attribute every image back to its source. Coordinate Quest is a fan-made geography game — not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.
